WHY

THE STEEL MACE?

The steel mace is a powerful feedback tool that allows you to connect with your body, unlike conventional exercise machines, offering you freedom to explore movements in all plans of motion. Additionally, the steel mace transcends fitness, allowing you to express yourself through movement, releasing tension buried deep within you. Simply sprinkle a little imagination in your movement practice and you become a warrior wielding an ancient weapon ready to battle dark forces. Fitness or play? It doesn’t matter as long as you are having fun. Because fun is the point!

DOES SWING THEORY

HAVE A PHYSICAL LOCATION?

Unfortunately, no. However, Coach Mads teaches Steel Mace Flow remotely and locally in Amherst, MA. Non-locals can reach out for online training from the comfort of your own home. You just need a reliable internet connection, a little bit of space, and of course, a steel mace. One day Mads will have his own studio space -Swing Theory- to call home. I'M wORRIED 

I WILL HURT MY...

Understandable. The mace is a unique training tool. But just like driving a car, if you are not present with the moment, then bad things can happen quickly. However, anyone at any fitness level is capable of using it. Many of my clients are middle-aged, working class, women. I have successfully taught countless people of varying demographics how to move with a mace. The oldest, a 65 year-old female. The youngest, an 11 year-old boy. Guess what? They all swing mace like a boss and they love it! Learning new skills takes patients, practice, and the courage to try something new. So, I dare you to step outside your comfort zone and try some multi-planar movement using a steel mace. HOW EFFECTIVE IS STEEL MACE TRAINING?

VERY. What makes the steel mace very effective is the off-set load. The uneven weight distribution creates torque (a fancy word for rotational forces) throughout your body. This torque is very effective at targeting muscles and tendons, which have receptors within them that detect motion in a given body part and sends information back to our brains where this information is decoded. This is kinesthetic awareness, and it can be learned. Furthermore, because of the torque, every movement pattern or exercise performed with the steel mace will ignite your stabilizing muscles in effort to maintain proper form and structure.
